Description of Work/Assignment: In community engagement this last quarter we've done a lot of work with H.A.R.F. For this project we were to be in groups and make an educational video, engineer a dog cart, or a social media post. My group decided to do an educational video that would be presented to the younger division grades. K-3. Our educational video included the topic of "how to approach a dog; what to do and not to do." Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?: Interpersonal skills I feel best addresses this project/assignment because for the video we had to socially interact and communicate effectively as a group to be able to get our task done. Writing the scripts, videotaping, editing, and voice overs all had to be communicated through each of us 5 team members. In the video we also had to be sure to communicate the positivity towards what to do and not do when around dogs to where younger kids would understand. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?: I'm most proud of getting the assignment done and meeting the criteria. I enjoyed this project mostly because we got to play with a cute dog throughout our filming. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?: I developed and/or improved upon interpersonal skills by communicating with my team members about who's doing what and when. Another development in this skill was communicating our messages about what to do around a dog in a positive and helpful way in the video so that the younger kids would understand and hopefully learn something from. What was most difficult about completing this task?: What was most difficult about completing this project was trying to figure out how to make the video when members that were involved in the video weren't. We decided to have that person that was absent do a voice over of their part while someone else acted out their part. Another difficulty was turning in the link due to technical difficulties. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?: I can improve this project by making sure that the team members needed for the filming were at school for at least their part in the video. This brings me into if I could start over, what I would do differently. What I would do differently would be to check the link possibly a day or two before the due date so that it wouldn't cause so much stress and problems the day it was due. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past? How can you apply this to future learning?: This relates to what I have learned in the past about effectively and positively communicating with my group when it comes down to project management. I can apply this to my future learning by the need of effective and positive communication in a work environment, school environment, or even just with others in your life.
