Each year, every senior student is to create a self-led project that they complete from start to finish over the course of 7 months with a finished product in the end. Creating paddling and surf team uniforms that represent our school's values. This year we decided to really focus on Lahaina strong and the movement of sticking together. To show our school’s value in focusing on Lahaina I incorporated a design representing it in the uniforms. The importance of this project was for the paddling and surf teams to be unified as a team, and that being through uniforms.
Driving Question: How can I create paddling and surf uniforms that reflect our school’s values?
21st Century Skill: The 21st century skills that were incorporated into my senior project were self-directional skills, communication skills, technology skills and problem solving skills to name a few. These skills were all challenged and strengthened throughout the length of my project. All of these skills were important in the process of the project.
How I’ve grown since: I have grown during this project in my 21st century skills. I had to communicate very often with the printer and my mentors about the designs for the uniforms to be successful. I learned about what goes into designing online and in person with a company of professionals. There were bumps in the road of my project, but by problem solving I was able to pivot to keep my project on track too.
