Description of Work/Assignment: The Collaborative Workshop Idea project was an engineering group project I had last quarter. Individually, we all did slide shows the week before that had the same workshop station ideas on them since our teacher wanted us to all gain basic knowledge about different stations we could possibly have in our new workshop. However, we got to create four of our own slides at the end of what workshops we individually wanted to see possibly happen in the zone 1 workshop, since we were going to finally move into the workshop/classroom soon. For the project we had to take the descriptions, pictures, questions ect... that we had done research on in the previous week and had made slideshows about individually, and come together into groups. Then once in the group, we made another slide show together about what workshop ideas we thought were most important and what extra workshop ideas we each had. After the slideshow as a group was complete it was planned to present it, but we didn't have enough class time. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?: The 21st Century Skill I believe fits with this project/assignment is Communication Skills. This is because it was a group project where active communication would be very important when deciding which slides to keep about the workshops that were most important to us, and what ideas we had for our own thought-up workshop stations we did individually before the group project. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?: In this project/assignment I am most proud of the communication between my group and I about what workshops we felt were most important to highlight. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?: I developed/improved on Communication Skills by having to work with a group for this project and communicating what we each felt was a good workshop to highlight, rather than some others. What was most difficult about completing this task?: It was most difficult to try to complete the slideshow in time for the due date because we were told there was going to be more class time to work together. Since realistically it would be easier to communicate together in school, rather outside of school, but there wasn't as much time as we expected so we divided up the work we had left at the end and finished it right on time. How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different?: If I could start over this project, what I would do differently would be to split up the work right away to manage our time better. If I could improve on the work I could've been more descriptive about what I thought was interesting, because that was a huge part of the project as well. How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?: This project relates to what I have learned in the past because the knowledge of workshops and what I learned about workshops and the items among them was built onto more and more from this project. How can you apply this to future learning?: I can apply this project to future learning about other workshops and their use when we start using the zone 1 classroom/workshop more for projects and such.
