Description of Work/Assignment: For the plan a trip project, it was a project that was started before fall break and finished the week we got back. We were to plan a hypothetical spring break trip and plan out an entire itinerary with lodging, meals, flights, and activities. Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?: The 21st century skill I believe fits with this assignment is thinking and problem solving skills. This skill relates to the assignment because this project relates to a real world situation where I will be planning a trip on my own. Through this project I learned about what it takes to plan a trip and how a budget works, along with every detail that needs to be planned for it to be successful. What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?: What I am most proud of from this project is planning every detail of the trip. It definitely took time to find good prices and decent places to stay, to visit, and to eat. It was a good experience to have when I plan trips or such else. I know what a good price range would be whether it's in the US or internationally from planning this project now. How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?: I developed and or improved my 21st century skill with this assignment in the way that after high school I should be able to plan trips on my own and be able to navigate all the details. My thinking and problem solving skills are being improved upon by learning how the planning process works and when problems arise, how to trouble shoot them and continue on with my research for a trip.
What was most difficult about completing this task?: What was most difficult about completing this task was finding reasonable prices for sure. Airfare is probably one of the most difficult parts when it comes to planning a trip and budgeting.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?: If I could start over, what I would do differently to improve my work would be to find a lower costing flight for the project. It was towards the end of the project when I found out the flight I chose wouldn't work with the guidelines so I picked the cheapest flight I could find and added to my project and budget. Next time, I will double check the guidelines and plan better for a project or assignment that involves a budget and presentation.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?: This relates to what I have learned in the past in the way that I did plan a trip back in 5th grade as a huge project. I have also worked with budgeting in junior seminar as a way to practice for planning for life after high school.
